News and Updates
I think its about time we started keeping you updated with what is happening
here at WGI, so here we go with a news section.
August 2008
A slightly quieter month on the event front this month. The
main event was a horse show down in East Sussex which went swimmingly....yes, it
poured down nearly all day.
However, here on the webfront, the bigger news is that we now have a dedicated
website specifically for such events.
www.event-photography.me
There you will find samples of the sort of pictures produced at these events and
more information on the services we can provide. For want of a better cliche, no
job too small!
July 2008
Finally managing to catch breath after a hectic few
weeks. A quick look at the gallery pages will show trips to Brooklands Festival
of Motoring, the Wildlife Heritage Foundation and in between karate tournaments
in Sheffield and Clacton.
The festival was an incredible day with everything from the oldest race cars to
Lewis Hamilton in the newest. Well worth a visit next year if motorsport and its
heritage is your thing.
Better still was the Big Cat photo day at WHF in Kent. They have some of the
worlds most endangered wild cats, from the domestic sized Pallas cat to the
might Amur Tiger, passing through Servals, cheetahs, leopards and lions on the
way. Probably one of the best days I have had in terms of totally photogenic
subjects. The centre is doing a great job in helping preserve these animals and
is part of an international breeding program. More information can be found at
www.whf.org.uk
Still to come later this month is a weekend in industrial seaside, Dungeness and
a trip to the Silverstone Classic meet - both on the same weekend - I suspect I
shall be sleeping a lot on the Monday!
June 2008
Its been a busy month so far and isn't about to get any
quieter. A quick check of the gallery pages will show that a good time was had
at the World Series by Renault weekend at Silverstone in Northamptonshire.
Also took a trip to Hastings a few days ago and some pictures from there can be
found in the galleries. Hastings is a very pretty seaside town with plenty to
grab the attention and the lens.
This weekend is another karate event in Sheffield and as usual the days
happenings will be reported on the Ashin-do Kai website, the link for which is
on the links page.
Next week is F1 Testing at Silverstone followed by the Motoring Festival at
Brooklands in Weybridge at the weekend and then its off to Clacton the weekend
after for another karate tournament.
Makes me feel tired just thinking about it all. Plenty more is planned over the
next few months, so do keep checking the galleries for new images.
May 2008
The bank holiday weekend saw me at the Masters Grand
Prix event at Brands Hatch in Kent. All manner of exotic classic machinery was
on display and indeed, on the track. The pictures from the weekend can be found
in the Events section of the gallery. A fabulous weekend that was helped by the
weather forecasters getting things totally wrong and being dry for both days I
was there.
Watch this space, with the number of events and visits planned for summer, the
gallery section may have to expand to accommodate everything.
Visits already planned this summer include a Big Cat day, more karate
tournaments, Dungeness and some rather interesting Victorian London
Architecture.

About our Photographer
I started taking pictures as a young girl with 110 camera bought as Christmas
present by my parents. As an adult, I bought a very cheap but functional SLR and
did a couple of short courses just to learn the basics. For several years I had
no camera at all, due to personal circumstances, but 4 years ago I got my first
digital camera. A simple point and shoot affair, I quickly became hooked again,
moving up to a much grander, compact point and shoot. Eventually I managed to
get my hands on a DSLR, a Nikon D70s, which was followed a year later by a D200.
I love photography, for me its a way to relax, to put yourself outside the
stresses of daily life and see it through a lens. Motor Sport, Wild Life,
Architecture, Landscapes; all have had my camera pointed at them. I would encourage anyone with an interest to
make the most of what is around you and enjoy working with the camera, don't be
put off by 'bad' pictures, learn from them for next time and, most importantly,
have FUN!!
Best Wishes
Yvonne
